'Airplane!' is often cited in lists of the funniest films of all time, with classic lines including Nielsen's now famous 'Don't call me Shirley...'.

Scoring was conducted by counting up the total amount of laughs among a panel of viewers during a screening of the film, and then dividing the number by the film's run time.

'The Naked Gun', which like 'Airplane!' was also written by the Zucker brothers and Jim Abrahams, turned up in third place with 2.3 laughs-per-minute.
