Pulp Fiction co-writer Roger Avary has been sentenced to a year in prison after fatal car crash.

The writer and director, who won an Oscar for his work with Quentin Tarantino on the hitman caper, pleaded guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter. He was said to be travelling over 100mph in his Mercedes when he crashed his car into a telegraph pole, killing his passenger, Andreas Zini.

The Rules of Attraction director will also serve five years probation.
