After a few years out of the spotlight, "The Matrix" directors Larry and Andy Wachowski are to get back behind the camera for a live-action version of cult cartoon "Speed Racer". The brothers will write and direct the Warner Bros. movie, which will once again be produced by their long-time collaborator Joel Silver.
Based on anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida's 1960s TV series, the film will follow the adventures of the young race car driver Speed as he chases glory in his impressive Mach 5 motor. Filming is likely to take place next summer with the movie likely to be released mid 2008.
