Thomas Turgoose, star of This Is England, has picked up the best acting award at New York's Tribeca Film Festival.

The young star, who's still only 15, shared the gong with Piotr Jagiello, his co -star in the drama Somers Town.

The film, again directed By This Is England's Shane Meadows, focuses on the friendship between two young boys, one a runaway from Nottingham, the other the son of an immigrant worker, and the girl they both fancy. It's Meadows first London-based film, set in the area between Kings Cross and Euston stations.

The independent festival, founded by actor Robert De Niro and now in its seventh year, awarded the best movie prize to Let The Right One In, a Swedish drama about the love between a young boy and the vampire next door.
