Danny Glover and Thandie Newton are to travel into the future - they will star in disaster epic 2012.
Lethal Weapon star Glover will play the US president, while Newton will star as his daughter. The president's chief of staff is set to be played by Oliver Platt.
The film will also star John Cusack as an academic researcher who travels through a parallel universe to make contact with his double in a bid to stop an ancient Mayans prophet predicting the world's end.
It will be directed by Roland Emmerich.
Shooting begins next month with the film scheduled for release in July 2009.
