Sigourney: "I can't wait to get back"

Sigourney Weaver is excited about her role, re-teaming with Aliens director James Cameron for sci-fi thriller Avatar.

The movie, out in summer 2009 is currently being shot in 3-D and will combine live-action and computer-generated characters and environments.

And it is the first time since 1997's Alien Resurrection that Weaver is appearing in a sci-fi thriller.

“It’s a fantastic movie. So ambitious. So romantic and sweeping”, she says. “I can’t wait to get back”.

Sigourney is also very happy to be working with her co-star, Australian actor Sam Worthington who plays a disabled war veteran sent to investigate another planet with Weaver playing his botanist mentor, Grace.

“He’s a terrific actor, he really is. And a lovely guy. I think he’s going to do a wonderful job. His humour and charm and just genuineness as a person are very evident as soon as you start working with him”.

But Sigourney is remaining tight lipped about the plot.

“I’m not allowed to give too much away, but we have parallel adventures," she admits. "There’s a younger person’s story and a smaller, older person’s story all happening at the same time. All my scenes are with [Worthington]. It’s really a lovely relationship”.
