Jennifer Hudson's brother-in-law will finally be charged with the murder of the singer/actress's mother, brother and nephew.
William Balfour, who was questioned by police on the day of the shootings had previously been described as a "person of interest", but he will now be charged with homicide, according to Chicago police.
The bodies of Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were discovered on October 24 at the family's Chicago home while her nephew, seven-year-old Julian King, was found dead three days later in a sport utility vehicle.
The Chicago Sun-Times previously reported Hudson's plans to "use the newly formed foundation she established with her sister Julia to try to reduce the daily killings in inner-city communities across the nation."
A reporter for the paper said: "I'm also hearing that once Hudson has had enough time to work through her grief, she hopes to go public on shows like 'Oprah' to turn the anti-violence campaign into a virtual crusade against gangs, guns and urban crime."
Hudson's publicist pointed out that The Hudson-King Foundation for Families of Slain Victims aims to provide food, shelter, clothing and grief counselling to families who have lost relatives to violent crime.
