It was not long ago that we reported that both Liev Schreiber ("Defiance") and Chiwetel Ejiofor ("Redbelt") had joined Angelina Jolie on the set of Phillip Noyce's "Salt", but now USA Today has published the first series of photos of Jolie as the eponymous CIA Officer on the run.
The story centres on Evelyn Salt, a CIA officer who is framed as a Russian spy. She manages to make a run for it before her bosses can arrest her for allegedly plotting to kill the president. While trying to reunite with her family, she struggles to prove someone else is the traitor. Think a softer, more caring Bourne.
According to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura ("Transformers"), Salt's air of mystery will be key in the marketing pitch for this slow-burn thriller.
"She's a character you never know," says Bonaventura "People who think they know the real her may or may not. Those who think they can tell whether she's in a disguise also may or may not. You're supposed to be kept guessing. She tells you her agenda, but are you supposed to believe it?"
