Actor Eric Bana's is to show his funny side alongside Adam Sandler in Judd Apatow's latest comedy.

Bana, who started his career as a comedian, has since starred in a series of serious films including Munich, Black Hawk Down and Chopper. However, he is reportedly in talks to star in director Judd Apatow's (40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up) third movie. Anyone who has seen Knocked Up will know that the director is a fan of Bana's Munich.

Apatow recently announced details of his as-yet-untitled film, which will also star Apatow regulars Leslie Mann and Seth Rogen, about stand up comedians.

Sandler told MTV.com, "I've got to write an act again. It's been a long time. I haven't done stand-up in, like, 10 years. Even more. That's why I want to kill Judd Apatow right now. I was so much happier doing nothing!"

"It's a comedy, but it has more drama in it. A hilarious drama is what I'm going for," Apatow added. "Every movie, I'm trying to find a way to go deeper, to tell stories about subjects that are important and make them less and less broad while making them equally as funny. [This film is] another step in that progression.

Bana is expected to play Mann's husband in the movie.
