Former Coronation Street actor Matthew Marsden has landed a major Hollywood part after securing a role in Transformers 2.

The British hunk played Chris Collins in the famed soap in the late 90s before deciding to move to Hollywood to try his luck there.

He has since landed small supporting roles in TV shows such as CSI: Miami, but it's only recently that he has secured major big screen parts in Resident Evil: Extinction and Rambo.

He will now star in the big budget sequel to 2007s Transformers as Graham - a soldier in the British Special Forces. The character teams up with Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson (who return from the first film) to battle the evil Decepticons, reports MTV.com.

The site also reports that director Michael Bay was so impressed with Marsden's audition that he decided to beef up his character.
