"Shrek's" return proves a box office hit

Despite some rather lukewarm reviews, "Shrek The Third" has proved a huge box office hit here in the UK. The return of Mike Myers' grumpy green ogre earned a whopping £10.4 million over the weekend (June 29th - July 1st) - now add on the £6.3 million the film took in previews the previous weekend and the folks behind the film are celebrating to the tune of £16.7 million!

Last week's No. 1, comic book hit "Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer", slipped to second with "Ocean's 13" in third. "Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End" sailed down to fourth while Eli Roth's grisly horror sequel "Hostel: Part II" could only debut in fifth.
