Less than a week after Pierce Brosnan announced he won't be returning to the role of James Bond, the rumour mill has already kicked in with a story in Sunday's "News of the World" claiming that "Troy" and "Hulk" star Eric Bana is set to fill Brosnan's shoes. However the Coming Soon website has looked into the story further and claims that Bana hasn't even been approached about the role.
But filmmakers Eon Productions will need to find a replacement fairly soon. According to trade magazine Variety, filming on the as yet untitled "James Bond 21" is scheduled to start before March next year in order for the film to be ready for its planned release on 18 November 2005. Apparently Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, writers of the last two Bond movies, delivered the first draft of their new script last week.
