The legendary loin cloth jungle adventurer Tarzan is to swing back into cinemas.
The iconic character will head to the big screen - with Mummy director Stephen Sommers in talks to direct the new adaptation, reports Variety.com.
Sommers, who has just finished filming the big screen version of G.I. Joe, is currently in negotiations with Warner Bros, while Pirates of the Caribbean's Stuart Beattie is on scriptwriting duties.
Tarzan was introduced to the world in 1912 in Edgar Rice Burroughs novels - and he has featured in several movies including 1984's Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (starring Christopher Lambert) and Disney's animated 1999 tale.
The portrayal most associated with the character however was Johnny Weismuller's (pic), who played Tarzan in a series of films during the 1930's.
