George Clooney is in talks to star in Alexander Payne's new dramedy.

The actor is said to be interested in starring in Descendants - a drama about a wealthy landowner who, with his two daughters in tow, attempts to track down his wife's lover in a bid to keep his family together - reports Variety.

It will be Payne's first time he has directed since 2004's Sideways.

Clooney has been a busy man of late. He is promoting three films at he moment - Fantastic Mr Fox, The Men Who Stare At Goats and Up In The Air. He is also currently working on thriller The American.
