It seems that the world has just gotten a little crazier. Over here we might have near Arctic conditions and six inches of snow but our American cousins are currently dealing with a far graver phenomenon - that of Liam Neeson and the actioner "Taken". You might remember this one as the critically derided Dad-on-the-Warpath effort has been out on these soils for quite some time (indeed it receives its DVD release this coming Monday). But nevertheless, "Taken", for want of a better word, has taken $24 million in its opening weekend to oust "Paul Bart: Mall Cop" from the top spot. The Kevin James-starring comedy has slipped down to number 2 this week under scrutiny from Neeson's Bourne-lite shenanigans.

Straight in at number 3 is "The Uninvited". This creepy psycho-horror, with an impressive turn from "W." star Elizabeth Banks as a nutty nurse, and based on the Korean original (surprise, surprise) debuted with a $10 million weekend. Refusing to budge this week are those lovable pups from "Hotel for Dogs" - Paramount's feel good hit edging ever closer to that elusive $50 million total gross. Slipping two places down to 5 is Clint Eastwood and his "Gran Torino", which has already surpassed the $100 million mark!

Falling one place to 6 is the Oscar contender, and the UK's current No. 1, "Slumdog Millionaire" punching above its Box Office weight and even managing to consign "Underworld 3: Rise of The Lycans" to number 7 as it plummets from last week's runners up spot. Lionsgate's latest rom-com-dram comes courtesy of Renee Zellweger here as an upwardly mobile career woman in "New in Town", which is, as it's name would suggest, new at number 8. And falling fast out of the Chart and out of our hearts is "My Bloody Valentine 3D" at 9 with so-so fantasy "Inkheart" resting as it does at number 10.
