Rose Byrne, on something of a sci-fi roll after her stints on "Sunshine" and "28 Weeks Later", has landed a lead role opposite Nicolas Cage in the new thriller "Knowing" to be directed by "I, Robot" alum Alex Proyas.
"Knowing" will see Byrne's character stumble upon a buried time capsule, a capsule buried by her mother back in 1962. Inside this Pandora's Box is a collection of dates marking the assassinations of historical figures as well as the forthcoming death of the wife of an esteemed professor (Cage). And if that wasn't enough, the capsule also bears the date of an imminent world apocalypse (that kind of thing can really put a bane on your day). Once Cage's professor gets wind of the capsule's existence, he tracks down Byrne and helps her come to terms with her mysterious past.
Proyas will direct from an original screenplay by Ryne Douglas Pearson (author of "Simple Simon", adapted in to the Bruce Willis-starring "Mercury Rising").
