Winona Ryder, Woody Harrelson and Robert Downey Jr have become the latest big names to join Keanu Reeves in the new big-screen version of Philip K. Dick's sci-fi novel, "A Scanner Darkly."

But don't expect another straight Philip K. Dick adaptation like "Minority Report" or "Paycheck." Just as he did with his 2001 pic "Waking Life," director Richard Linklater will film the futuristic story about an undercover drug officer with a split personality as if it were a traditional flick, but then turn the footage into weird and wonderful animation.

Linklater, whose credits also include "The School of Rock" and "Before Sunrise," will direct from his own scripted adaptation of one of Dick's most celebrated novels.
