Sam Worthington is to replace Tom Cruise on spy thriller The Tourist.
Cruise dropped out of the project earlier this year, preferring to film an untitled romantic comedy alongside Cameron Diaz first. He had hoped to make The Tourist after that, but film company Spyglass have fast tracked the thriller into production with the Terminator Salvations star instead.
Worthington will play an American tourist who is duped by a female Interpol agent to flush out a master criminal. Oscar winner Charlize Theron will play the agent.
It looks to be a busy 12 months for the Australian actor following his breakthrough role in the Terminator movie. He will be seen next in James Cameron's Avatar, while he also has the lead role in the Clash of the Titans remake.
