John Travolta battled in vain for twenty minutes to save his 16 year old son Jett after he suffered a convulsion over the weekend.

The Pulp Fiction actor and his actress wife Kelly Preston are in mourning after the death of their son. Jett, who has a history of seizures, died on Friday at his parents holiday home in the Bahamas.

Through the couple's lawyer Michael McDermott, Travolta revealed he battled for twenty minutes in a bid to save his son. McDermott said that Travolta told him: "There was a slight pulse so we did all we could. I tried the kiss of life for about 20 minutes. I couldn't give up."

John and Kelly issued a statement, saying, "Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief.

"We will cherish the time that we had for him for the rest of our lives."

The couple, who also have an eight year old daughter named Ella, gave thanks to the "many messages of condolences from around the world".
