The Hollywood debut of Hong Kong moviemakers Oxide and Danny Pang ("The Eye") has made quite a splash across the pond. Supernatural thriller "The Messengers" shot straight to the top of the US box office chart over the weekend (Feb 2nd - 4th), bagging $14.5 million in the process. Meanwhile new Mandy Moore romcom "Because I Said So" opened in second with just over $13 million.
Last week's chart topper "Epic Movie" fell two places to third, while family smash "Night at the Museum" is still proving popular - the Ben Stiller comedy came in fourth and has now earned more than $225 million. Gangster thriller "Smokin' Aces" rounded out the top five.
