Bruno follows Borat

It has been rumoured since his last film came out but Sacha Baron Cohen has confirmed he is following up his comedy hit Borat with a film featuring Brüno - his gay Austrian fashion reporter character.

After an intense bidding war with Dreamworks, Sony and 20th Century Fox, Universal Pictures paid a reported $42.5m for the movie rights. Baron Cohen is rumoured to get paid $13m upfront and will receive 15 per cent of the box office take.

The comic Brit will also make another movie with a character most people have not seen before.

Dinner For Schmucks, will be a remake of French comedy hit Le Diner De Cons. It's about a a group of pretentious wealthy intellectuals who each invite the biggest loser they know to dinner, for their own amusement. Unsurprisingly Cohen will take the Jacques Villeret role of the imbecile that manages to unwittingly ruin the life of anyone he tries to help.

However, that film - to be directed by Jay Roach - has to wait for Brüno to finish and for Roach to finish Recount, the HBO movie about the 2000 election due to be out in time for the 2008 US Presidential election.
