Maggie trusted it was a girl

Maggie Gyllenhaal and her actor-partner Peter Sarsgaard have had a baby girl.

Trust The Man star Maggie gave birth on Tuesday (Oct 3), to the eight pound infant who is yet to be named.

Their rep, Amanda Silverman said: "Mom, dad and baby are healthy and happy."

Maggie has been with Jarhead actor Peter for four years, and they got engaged in April this year, with Maggie admitting she wants "the fairy tale wedding".

Maggie had previously said that she and Peter didn't want to know the sex of the child, but she told chat show host David Letterman that she had a hunch her baby would be a girl. "You know, at first, I thought I really wanted a girl," she said. "And then somewhere along the line, I sort of fell in love with the idea of having a boy. And then I got a real strong sense that it was a girl and fell in love with that again."

It's a good job she had a girl then!
