Forthcoming fantasy adventure Beowulf is a big film already - but from November 16 you can see it in epic scale - 3D at the BFI IMAX in London.
The film is about a mighty warrior called Beowulf (Ray Winstone, pic) who slays a demon called Grendel only to incur the wrath of its monstrous yet seductive mother (Angelina Jolie) in a conflict that transforms a king into a legend. The all-star cast also includes Anthony Hopkins as the corrupt King Hrothgar, as well as John Malkovich, Robin Wright Penn, Brendan Gleeson, Crispin Glover and Alison Lohman.
The film is directed by Oscar winner Robert Zemeckis, who thinks transforming Beowulf into 3D, complete with digital surround sound and gigantic images is pretty exciting stuff. "IMAX 3D has enabled us to tell stories in a whole new way, and we are very excited to offer moviegoers a chance to experience Beowulf in this incredible format," Zemeckis said. "IMAX lends itself to the incredible image detail in Beowulf and in 3D, it will transport the audience directly into the story."
Beowulf: An IMAX 3D Experience will open concurrently with the nationwide 35mm and digital 3D releases from Warner Bros. Pictures on November 16.
