Quaid to sue drug firm for twin's overdose

Dennis Quaid is suing the makers of the blood thinning drug which was given to his newborn twins in an accidental overdose in November.

The twins, who were born on November 8 via a surrogate mother, were giving 10,000 units of Heparin at the hospital, instead of the normal 10 units for babies.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre apologised for the "preventable error", admitting the drug had been stored by a technician in the wrong place.

However, Quaid and his wife Kimberley Buffington are suing Baxter Healthcare for failing to put clearer labels on their product.

Quad's lawyer Susan Loggans said the pair were taking legal action "to save other children from this fate. They're not looking for money."

Loggans, who also added that the couple have not yet decided whether to sue the hospital, said the twins were at home with the family and "doing fantastic".
