James McAvoy has set the Hollywood rumour mill straight on reports he's playing Scotty in a Star Trek movie.
The Last King Of Scotland star denied all, but did admit he's a fan of the sci-fi TV show.
"That rumour’s rubbish, it’s all rubbish," James told us. "I don’t know if I would if I was asked, it’d depend if the script was any good or not.
"I am a Trekkie, though, I do love Star Trek. But I think [the rumours started] when one person on the internet suggested that seeing as I’m Scottish and I’m quite prominent at the moment I should play Scotty."
But James, 28, who plays Anne Hathaway's caddish love interest in new film Becoming Jane, did admit if he'd play anyone from the Starship Enterprise, it would be Doctor Bones McCoy - because he's quite sexy.
James continued: "If you really look at what Scotty is, he’s only ever Scottish and nothing else. Captain Kirk has a bit of character, Spock had a bit of character, then there’s comedy ethnic guy. But if I was going to play anyone in a Star Trek movie it’d be Bones – Bones thinks he’s sexy. He’s part of that little trio of Shatner [Kirk], Nimoy [Spock] and him and he’ll always be slightly on the outside... I like that."
