Well they said it was a straight fight between "Rush Hour" director Brett Ratner and "The Flight of the Phoenix" helmer John Moore and now it's been confirmed: Ratner has emerged victorious and will take over the directorial reins of comic book outing "X-Men 3".
Ratner was among the favourites to helm the original "X-Men" movie back in 2000, but ultimately lost out then to Bryan Singer. However Brit Matthew Vaughn's decision last week to quit the third film in the superhero franchise has proved lucky for Brett.
Fans may be slightly concerned by the news - Ratner has a solid track record but he's not exactly known for the bold visual style that Bryan Singer stamped on the first two films - but all we can do is wait and see how he does when the movie is released next May.
