Hayden Christensen has been cast as a lawyer defending a Japanese
soldier in World War II film Beast of Bataan.
The drama centres on the lawyer's story as he defends a Japanese general responsible for the 1942 Bataan Death March, during which thousands of American and Filipino POWs died on a forced march to captivity.
Willem Dafoe, William Hurt and Japanese actor Kôji Yakusho are rumoured to be co-starring.
Helmed by Fierce Creatures director Fred Schepisi, the movie is based on Lawrence Taylor's biography, A Trial of Generals and filming is set to start in February in Australia.
Meanwhile, Star Wars actor Christensen has just finished shooting futuristic sci-fi thriller Jumper with Samuel L Jackson, Diane Lane and Jamie Bell, in which he plays a man persecuted for his ability to teleport. Jumpers is currently in post-production and hits cinemas February 15 2008.
