Daniel Day-Lewis continues to wow critics with his performance in new movie There Will Be Blood - he has been named best actor at both the National Society of Film Critics Awards and Palm Springs International Film Festival.
The English actor plays an oil prospector in the epic drama, which is based on Upton Sinclair's 1927 book Oil! and is directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. It has already received several Golden Globe nominations including best drama and actor.
There Will Be Blood won best actor, best film and best director at the National Society of Film Critics Awards. Other winners at the ceremony included Julie Christie for best actress, Cate Blanchett for best supporting actress and Casey Affleck for best supporting actor for his performance in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
Romanian film Four Months, Three Weeks and Two Days won best foreign language film.
At the 19th Palm Springs Film Festival, Day-Lewis was honoured alongside Halle Berry and Sean Penn.
