Heigl defends her Knocked Up 'rant'

Katherine Heigl has defended disparaging comments she made about her film Knocked Up, and claimed the criticisms weren't that "outrageous".

The Hollywood beauty spoke about the film, in which she co-starred with Seth Rogen, in the January edition of Vanity Fair. She said, "It paints the women as shrews, as humourless and uptight, and it paints the men as loveable, goofy, fun-loving guys. Ninety-eight percent of the time it was an amazing experience, but it was hard for me to love the movie."

However, she couldn't understand why people made such a big fuss about the comments.

"The press or the media has decided that I'm outspoken, and I guess that's my angle or something.

"I have been this way for the last five to seven years when I started saying, 'You know, screw it, I'm not going to pussyfoot around issues anymore.' I kind of say what I think. And if I feel passionately about something I will be honest about it, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

"It (her remarks) wasn't that interesting, and it wasn't that outrageous."

The film's director Judd Apatow seemed to agree, remarking, "I've done a lot of interviews, and when you're promoting a movie, you talk for hours and hours and hours, and so it's very easy for something to be taken out of context. I'm just happy people are talking about Knocked Up six months after it came out."
