Lohan's mum wins Mother of the Year trophy

It may come as a shock to some - but Lindsay Lohan's mum Dina has won a parenting award.

Dina picked up a Long Island Top Mom award at the Mingling Mom's 'Mom's Night Out' event. She was one of twenty moms being honoured at the bash - other nods included the mothers of Jennifer Lopez, the Baldwin Brothers and, bizarrely, Karate Kid's Ralph Macchio.

But it was Dina's name that raised the most eyebrows. Lindsay Lohan had a troubled time last year, with the 'highlights' including jail time after a drink driving conviction, rehab and a string of film flops. Dina also came under fire for starring in a reality show with her 14 year old daughter Ali.

However, Dina defended the award, saying, "I've never partied with my daughter in my life." She went on to add that any time she is pictured with her eldest daughter in a club she is there as her manager.

In showing why she won the award, Dina revealed the sort of advice she gives to Lindsay: "Just to be honest and to stay morally correct. And listen to your mother," she said.
