The Final Destination enjoyed a longer stay at the top of US box office after seeing off Sandra Bullock's latest comedy to remain number one.
The 3D thriller, the fourth in the franchise, took over $12 million to remain in first place, while Bullock's All About Steve only managed $11 million.
The quirky comedy has been savaged by critics.
Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds dropped from second to third place after taking $10.8 million, while Gerard Butler's sci-fi thriller Gamer was a brand new entry at fourth.
District 9 rounded out the top five.
