Ratatouille cooks up a treat at the UK box office

Disney animated movie Ratatouille has served up a warning to film rivals after topping the UK and Ireland box office for a fourth week.

The animated movie, which is directed by Brad Bird, tells the tale of a rat who becomes a chef at a top French restaurant. It stays top after narrowly beating Josh Hartnett vampire horror movie 30 Days Of Night.

Fantasy adventure Stardust, which stars Claire Danes and Robert De Niro, remained in third place – while historical epic Elizabeth: The Golden Age debuted in fourth place. The Cate Blanchett-starring film was seen as a potential Oscar winner when filming commenced but it has been hit by a lukewarm critical reaction.

Horror film Saw IV had a scare of its own after it dropped from second to fifth place.
