Veteran actress Julie Walters says she'd never have plastic surgery to look younger, despite often feeling tempted.

The 57-year-old, who has won numerous awards and an Oscar nomination during her illustrious film and TV career, explained: "I'm not saying I haven't looked in the mirror and said 'if that bit was different I'd look so much better', but I think you have to accept that's what life's about. You can't hold age back forever. I think if I had to have a facelift to get a part, I would never do it."

But Julie did admit she's been tempted to have 'work' done, continuing: "There are people today who say they haven't had one [face lift] and look wonderful because they've had very clever ones, and I thought maybe I should have one like that, you know, just get rid of my worst bits.

"But no, I think if I had some work done I'd be letting myself down. And if I thought my husband would only be with me if I haven't got wrinkles, what is the point of that relationship?"

Meanwhile, Julie, whose latest film, costume drama/romance Becoming Jane, opens in cinemas nationwide this weekend, thinks there'll soon be more parts for older women. She added: "My generation is the baby boom generation, so there are more of us and there's a big audience to please, so that's changing."
