Sigourney Weaver was initially against lending her voice and image to Ghostbusters: The Video Game but changed her mind after she heard Bill Murray had signed up.

The actress was asked to reprise her role as Dana Barrett in the 1984 film for the multi-console game but turned it down, no doubt expecting Murray to do the same, but it's since emerged that the comic actor was getting involved.

Whether Weaver decides to get involved in the film Ghostbusters 3 still remains to be seen.

The writers of the US version of The Office have been drafted in to pen the screenplay for the belated third film and the original cast are pleased.

"A big element is passing the torch onto the a new generation of Ghostbusters. It's going to be me Harold, Billy and Ernie training the new ones," Dan Ackroyd told Empire.

Harold Ramis added, "Everyone is confident a decent script can be written and I guess we'll take it from there."

Murray joked, "I'm more involved with trying to get the dessert we ordered for lunch. I've yet to see a script, but it's a great idea that they hired these two guys to do it."
