Hawke joins the "Daybreakers"

Ethan Hawke, who can currently be seen on our screens in "Fast Food Nation", will battle to stay off the menu in new futuristic vampire film "Daybreakers". Set in 2017, when a plague has changed most of the world's population into blood-thirsty vampires, the film will see the neck biters trying to create a blood substitute before their stocks - aka mankind - run out. However, an underground group of vampires make a discovery that could just save the human race.

Horror veterans Peter and Michael Spierig ("Undead") wrote and will co-direct the Lionsgate project, with shooting due to begin this summer in their native Australia.
