How different action movie history could have been. Dustin Hoffman has revealed that he, not Sly Stallone, was first choice to play John Rambo in First Blood.
The diminutive Graduate star says producers approached him to play the Vietnam vet, whose scenes with muscled, head-banded Stallone have become iconic.
Hoffman told Extra: "I was the first one to be asked to do Rambo, but it was a little too much violence."
Hoffman does get involved in some violence in his current voice role as Shifu in the excellent Kung Fu Panda.
