Antonio Banderas is "proud" that his wife Melanie Griffith has gone into rehab to battle her painkiller addiction.
The Working Girl actress, who has a history of drink and drug problems, entered the Cirque Lodge rehabilitation centre in Utah recently, with Banderas revealing that Griffith had beat the addiction in the past but the problems resurfaced when she needed the prescription drugs after injuring herself in a skiing accident 18 months ago.
The Zorro star said, "The entire family are supporting her and I am supporting her. At this particular time more than ever, I'm very proud of my wife."
He added, "She was clean and sober for six years."
The pair have been married for 13 years.
