The famous black Versace dress worn by Liz Hurley to the 1994 Four Weddings And A Funeral Premiere, has been voted the No.1 red carpet garment of all time in a poll by Debenhams.

3,000 women were asked which gowns worked best at big events and they placed the outfit, seemingly held together with safety pins, at the top ahead of such memorable gowns as Audrey Hepburn's white flower patterned Givenchy dress, which she wore to the 1954 Oscars and Julia Roberts' black and white vintage Valentino dress which she wore when she won the Best Actress Oscar in 2001.

Hurley was at the time dating Four Weddings... star Hugh Grant.

"Liz Hurley's daring safety pin dress is one of the most famous black dresses worn on the red carpet, which made her a household name overnight" a spokesman from Debenhams said."
