While Christian Bale may now be synonymous with Batman, the superhero costume was once almost filled by Ghostbusters star Bill Murray,

Murray was all due to jump into the Batmobile for the 1989 film but got bumped for Michael Keaton when Tim Burton became involved.

Murray revealed that studio bosses were looking to recreate the camp Batman TV series from the 1960s, starring Adam West, and thought he would be the ideal Caped Crusader. And he reckons he would have done a fine job too.

"I would have been a fine Batman. You know, there have been a number of Batmen. I like them... I thought Mike Keaton did a great job as Batman. It's obviously - it's a great role," Murray told MTV.
