Brett Ratner has chosen to direct the new Conan movie over the fourth instalment of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise.

Despite being critically derided by film fans and the majority of film critics, Ratner has never been short of work. He was recently attached to direct Beverly Hills Cop 4, but has decided to film a new version of the Conan movie instead

The 1982 movie made a star out of Arnold Schwarzenegger and spawned several sequels and spin-offs, and Ratner is hoping to achieve the same level of success with his version.

The film, which is based on the 30's pulp stories by Robert Howard, will be aiming for an R rating. So expect plenty of blood and gore in this version.

Millennium Film's Avi Lerner said, "The story opens on the battlefield where Conan is born and tells the origin story that sets the stage for what will be the first of multiple films. This is a coup for Millennium Films and proves that our choice of projects and material is attracting much higher-profile directors and actors."
