Having breathed new life into the "Batman" franchise, director Christopher Nolan may next be turning his attention to a classic British TV show. Apparently he's in line to helm a movie based on "The Prisoner", the rather unpredictable 1967 series which starred Patrick McGoohan as a government agent who quits his post only, to find himself kidnapped and relocated to a colourful but remote location known as the Village. There he's given a new identity - Number Six - as he tries to escape.
The movie will be bought up to date and it's thought Nolan will take up the project after he finishes work on "The Dark Knight", his "Batman Begins" sequel next year. There's been no word yet on whether Universal Picture's plans for a big screen "The Prisoner" will have an impact on Sky's plans to produce a big budget TV mini series updating the cult classic.
