An independent documentary about John Hughes before his death has been bought by a studio.

Matt Austin-Sadowski's Don't You Forget About Me follows his attempts to locate the reclusive director. On his travels he managed to interview several actors who starred in classic Hughes' movies, such as Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy and Kelly LeBrock.

Matt's reason for the documentary was because Hughes "inspired me as a person, going through an awkward adolescence, as many people do. He took affairs of the heart very seriously, and no other director gave teenagers that sort of treatment".

He was finding it hard to get a distributor until Hughes death last week. Now, a US distributor has bought the 75-minute documentary. Matt hopes the film will inspire other people to look back at Hughes' movies, including Breakfast Club, Weird Science and Pretty In Pink.
