Brett Ratner has promised to keep Beverly Hills Cop's iconic theme tune for the fourth movie of the cop franchise.

The director is planning to revamp the action comedy series, which will once again feature Eddie Murphy as wisecracking cop Axel Foley. And to appease fans he has vowed to keep the film's signature tune, which has probably now become more synonymous with the Crazy Frog than the '80s comedy.

Ratner said, "Why change that song? It'll be back but it'll be a whole new interpretation."

Erm, isn't that kind of a change?

Anyway, Ratner added that he came to the decision to keep the tune following Michael Mann's decision to not use the iconic Miami Vice theme for his 2006 revamp. "I said to him (Mann), 'Why didn't you have it?' He said, 'We're doing something new.' That's like doing Mission: Impossible without the theme song."

The fourth Beverly Hills Cop movie is expected to be released next year.
