Movie legend Robert De Niro and rapper 50 Cent's unlikely on-screen partnership might not stretch to a second film as De Niro has reportedly pulled out of New Orleans.

The Goodfellas star is said to have been replaced by his Heat co-star Val Kilmer.

The Charles Winkler-directed thriller concerns a police officer who uncovers corruption in the police force while investigating the killer of his former partner.

Kilmer wrote on his website that he will playing "a burly rough but loyal cop. 50 is my partner."

The film would have marked De Niro's second big screen outing with 50 Cent, following crime drama Righteous Kill, which also stars Al Pacino - another co-star from Heat.

Righteous Kill's producer Avi Lerner described the teaming of the two movie superstars as, "an event in world history".

Unlike their previous collaboration, 1995's Heat, the pair share considerable screen time: "They were in two scenes in Heat. In this movie, they are in the whole thing together," Lerner added.
