A lightsaber that was featured in the Star Wars movies has sold at an auction for more than £130,000.

The Jedi weapon was sold by Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz and bought by a fan (who's obviously unaffected by the credit crunch) at an LA auction of Hollywood memorabilia.

The lightsaber was used by Mark Hamill's character Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: A New Hope and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Whether the purchaser was aware that it was actually made from an old photography flashgun is unclear.

Also sold was a Death Star (Darth Vadar's space station) for £13,300 plus C-3PO's helmet and robotic hands, which went for £66,444 and £20,000 respectively.
