Kidman takes all of the Plame

Nicole Kidman will play Valerie Plame, the CIA agent who was outed in an article in the Washington Post in 2003, in a forthcoming film directed by Mr and Mrs Smith director Doug Liman.

The movie will be based on Plame's memoir, Fair Game: My Life As A Spy, My Betrayal By The White House, parts of which were censored by the American government. Liman, however, feels he can do her book justice.

"I have a really, really insane take on how to tell it," he told MTV News. "It's so outrageous. Ultimately, I'd be doing something no one has ever done before, therefore it's automatically appealing to me. I'm just starting to explore whether it is even possible to do."

Plame, the wife of former politician Joseph C Wilson, was identified by a US journalist as an "agency operative on weapons of mass destruction".

After 20 years of service, she was obliged to quit the CIA in 2005.
