Nicole Kidman and her musician husband Keith Urban have donated half-a-million Australian dollars (£228,278) to the country's bushfire fund.
The couple appeared on a live televised appeal to raise money for the Red Cross following the fires which have claimed the lives of at least 175 people.
Kidman expressed her feelings of sorrow, "for the people who have been struck so devastatingly by this disaster."
The couple were among more than 150 politicians, actors (including Orlando Bloom, Anthony La Paglia and Rachel Griffiths), musicians and sports stars who took part in the appeal, called Australia Unites.
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has announced there will be national day of mourning and a memorial service to remember the victims.
