Whilst pressing the flesh for PR on her latest film "Funny Games" (another remake incidentally), Naomi Watts found time to discuss her forthcoming role in the "Birds" - the remake of Alfred Hitchcock's seminal work.

"It's a work-in-progress at this point," Said Watts during a crowded press conference to promote director Michael Haneke's "Funny Games". "I think it's a wonderful film. There are great things in it that interest me. The script isn't completely there yet, it probably won't happen until next year."

Watts will take her lead from director Martin Campbell ("Casino Royale") for this remake and work from a screenplay by Stiles White and Juliet Snowden (the tame "Bogeyman"). It would seem however, after "Funny Games", which Watts executive produced, that the "King Kong" star is taking a more hands-on approach to her projects. Asked if she was going to have a creative say in "Birds" Watts' added, "I'm sure the will come to me with the next draft. I've seen one draft, it's good. There's more to develop."
