28 Weeks lights up

A special event to kick-off awareness of 28 Weeks Later is being staged this evening (Friday 13th) against the famous white cliffs of Dover in Kent.

Set six months after the events in 2003's 28 Days Later, the sequel now finds the entire nation quarantined after being contaminated by the highly contagious man-made “rage” virus which turns people into zombies. The film's bio-hazard symbol will be projected on to white cliffs tonight because they are featured prominently in the film.

Due in cinemas May 11 28 Weeks Later's plot involves the US Army declaring that the war against infection has been won, but returning refugees soon reveal that virus is not yet dead, and this time, it is more dangerous than ever.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (INTACTO) has taken over directing duties for the sequel to Danny Boyle's original, while Boyle and writer Alex Garland (The Beach, Sunshine) act as executive producers. Robert Carlyle leads a largely British cast.
