Guy Ritchie is set to follow his former producing pal Matthew Vaughn by directing a comic book movie.
Madonna's filmmaking hubby has been in talks to direct a big screen adaptation of Sgt Rock. Producer Joel Silver told Aint It Cool News, "I'm going to make that. I'm going to make that very soon. With Guy Ritchie, I think."
However fans of the DC comic book, which features the adventures of a group of World War II soldiers from an infantry called Easy Company, shouldn't get too carried away. Silver has warned them that getting a big budget film adaptation onto the big screen is harder than it looks.
The famed producer is struggling to get Wonder Woman made (Buffy's Joss Whedon wrote a script but it was rejected) while his current film Speed Racer took years before it was finally ready to go ahead.
He warned, "I hope [that Sgt. Rock will get made]. I remember at one point it got close. I mean, there were a lot of people attached to Speed Racer. They never got that close."
Ritchie's involvement follows the news that his Lock Stock... producer, and now full time director, Vaughn is working on an film adaptation of Marvel comic Thor.
